This painting is a 30 x 30 cm portrait of a dad with his baby boy. The client commissioned this portrait as a present for the father in the picture. I worked from a lovely reference photo with some lovely rich colours and I wanted to translate this in the painting. I tried to balance the warm red tones with some some cool greens. The client was very happy with the painting a wrote me a lovely email:
Hi Ivana, Wow, that looks amazing…My friends were delighted with your work as was I. It’s really an amazing talent you have. Thank you. Carlos
Christmas orders are in full swing now and I am working away to get all the portraits ready in time. I haven’t had the time to update the blog, so I will try and do that in the next few weeks.
This is a family portrait I worked on a few weeks ago. The portrait was commissioned as a birthday present for the mum in the picture by her husband. I had a lot of photographs to go by which made it much easier for me to capture everyone’s likeness.
The drawing was 20 x 30 cm in size drawn with graphite pencils on paper. I worked with Staedtler Lumograph 2B and 4B pencils mostly. The drawing was mounted in a neutral colour mount before it was collected by the client. I took some photos of the mounted portrait.
This portrait was completed a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed working on this painting. The colours in the photo are just beautiful and I wanted to capture the sunlight and the shadows it creates on the clothing and faces. The portrait features a father with his daughter at a skiing competition. The reference photo was a selfie as you can see from the arm reflected in the dad’s glasses.
The painting is 30 x 30 cm in size and painted with acrylics on stretched canvas. I took some photographs of the painting in progress and the finished painting too. I hope you all like it.
This is a portrait commissioned as a present for the children’s parents. The client, their grandmother, wanted to surprise her daughter with the drawing. The drawing is drawn with graphite pencils on paper 20 x 30 cm in size. The client was very happy with the result. I will be mounting the drawing before posting it off. The pose was very natural in the photo and I wanted to capture that in the drawing. I worked mostly with Staedtler pencils HB, 2B, 5B and 6B for the darkest areas. I usually start with an outline sketch in a HB pencil capturing the likeness of the people in the portrait, moving on to shading with softer pencils after. I hope you all like it 🙂
I am now working on a new painting. It is a beautiful portrait of father and daughter. I will be posting the result later on this week.
