This portrait is another one commissioned for last Christmas. It was of two lovely dogs called Jake, the yorkshire terrier and Sam, the golden labrador. I had some good photos of Jake. Sam sadly passed a long time ago and I only had some small photos of him. The clients were very keen on showing both dogs together in one drawing for their father, so we made it work. It worked out quite well with Jake sitting up on the arm of the chair and Sam sitting beside, their heads being at the same level.
I worked with graphite pencils on paper in the size of 25 x 30 cm. I took a photo of the initial sketch and of the finished drawing which was mounted in a neutral coloured mount. The clients came to collect the drawing just before Christmas and they were very pleased with the result. I was delighted as I thought it worked out very well too 🙂
This is a painting of two rottweilers that I completed before Christmas. It was commissioned by their owner as a present for his partner. They are Axel and Kaiser. The painting was a large 50 x 60 cm in size painted with acrylics on fine stretched canvas. The client was very happy with the finished portrait:
Oh my god i cant believe how well that has turned out. I am actually speechless!!!. My partner is going to love that. You have perfectly captured the two boys…
I took some photographs of the painting in progress and the finished piece.
Meet Buster, the beautiful boxer whose portrait I completed before Christmas. The drawing was 20 x 20 cm in size and drawn with coloured pencils on paper. I used Polychromos coloured pencils by Faber-Castell on Fabriano 5 paper with 50percent cotton. The photographs the client provided were very good and we decided to keep the background in monochrome.
I love Buster’s pose, looking over his shoulder. The client asked me to brighten his eyes a little in the drawing. The drawing was commissioned for her father for Christmas, Buster being his much loved dog. She was delighted with the finished portrait and wrote me a lovely email:
Hi Ivana, Oh my god it’s absolutely fantastic, it’s so realistic, given that you have never met Buster I can’t believe how true to character it is. I’m honestly so happy with it, I can’t thank you enough, it’s perfect….Thanks so much for all your hard work and dedication, you truly have a remarkable talent…..Aimee
I completed this portrait in December. It was a present for the lady pictured in the painting. I worked from one reference photo without making any major changes. The painting is painted in acrylic on fine grain canvas at 30 x 40 cm.
This is a painting I completed before Christmas. It was commissioned as a Christmas gift. The kittens in the portrait are Sebastian, the tabby kitten and Belle, the black and white kitten. I worked from two separate reference photographs provided by the client. I placed both cats into one composition with some simple shading, using mostly the background from Sebastian’s photo.
The portrait is 20 x 30 cm in size painted on fine grain cotton canvas. I worked with acrylics. I scanned the painting when finished and took some photographs of the canvas too.
This is a painting of Molly, the beautiful springer spaniel whose portrait I worked on before Christmas. I was so busy, I haven’t been updating the blog, so I will try and catch up over the next few weeks. I worked on all sorts of commissions from dog portraits to people portraits, drawings and paintings alike.
Molly’s painting was commissioned as a birthday present for the client’s daughter. Molly has a damaged leg and keeps it folded when sitting. The client was very keen to show this in the portrait together with her squeaky toy bone. This brought a lovely splash of colour into the painting. The red blanket behind Molly tied it all together. I worked from several reference photos which was great as I could really capture Molly’s colouring and expression.
The painting is 25 x 30 cm in size and painted with acrylics on stretched canvas. I took some pictures of the painting in process and the finished canvas.
The client was very happy with the painting and sent me a lovely email before and after she gave it to her daughter:
Thanks Ivana…Caitriona is going to be really thrilled as Molly is the light of her life. We all love her..and you have captured her so well..you have a gift for sure. Many thanks again for completing it so quickly..
Hi Ivana…Just to say Caitriona was over the moon with the painting of Molly…many thanks again. Your work is lovely and the service first class..wishing you continued success and a very Happy Christmas
I worked on this painting a couple of weeks ago. It is of a springer spaniel called Grouse. He is a much loved family pet and the client has commissioned his portrait as a Christmas present.
The painting was 30 x 30 cm in size and painted with acrylics on stretched canvas. I added a landscape background the client chose. This worked really well I thought. It added some depth in the painting and I could really push Grouse to the front.
I took lots of photos when I was painting and of the finished portrait.
I received a lovely email from one of my clients. He commissioned the portrait of Mini, the lovely yorkie.
Hi Ivana, I’m sorry that I have not been in contact before this. I got the painting delivered to my parent’s house and only saw it yesterday. It is really beautiful and captures Mini perfectly.
I gave the painting to Lorraine last night and she was totally blown away by it. She thinks it is just amazing and got very emotional looking at it. Mini was her first dog and although we now have 4 dogs Mini will always have a special place in Lorraine’s heart so thank you very much for such a beautiful job.
We will have to get a group painting of the 4 dogs next time!
Best wishes, Aaron
This is Mini, the yorkshire terrier. I worked on her portrait just a week ago. The client commissioned this painting as a Christmas present for his wife. I loved the photograph the client provided for this portrait. The red cushion in the background added a lovely warm contrast to the whites and greys of Mini’s fur. I detailed Mini’s head and worked the rest of the painting more loosely. The painting was 30 x 40 cm in size and painted with acrylics on stretched canvas.
The client was very happy with the painting:
Hi Ivana, Thank you so much, it is perfect. It really captures Mini. I know Lorraine will love it. Aaron
I took some photographs of the painting in progress and of the finished canvas.
This is Lassie, the lovely black, white and brown collie. This is the second portrait for the same client. Lassie has sadly passed away and the client wanted a portrait of him as a Christmas present.
The painting is 25×25 cm in size painted with acrylics on stretched canvas. I added some shaded background to add some mood to the painting. I love the way Lassie is looking up at the camera. I scanned the painting and took some photos of the progress and the finished painting.
