This is a painting of Molly, the beautiful springer spaniel whose portrait I worked on before Christmas. I was so busy, I haven’t been updating the blog, so I will try and catch up over the next few weeks. I worked on all sorts of commissions from dog portraits to people portraits, drawings and paintings alike.
Molly’s painting was commissioned as a birthday present for the client’s daughter. Molly has a damaged leg and keeps it folded when sitting. The client was very keen to show this in the portrait together with her squeaky toy bone. This brought a lovely splash of colour into the painting. The red blanket behind Molly tied it all together. I worked from several reference photos which was great as I could really capture Molly’s colouring and expression.
The painting is 25 x 30 cm in size and painted with acrylics on stretched canvas. I took some pictures of the painting in process and the finished canvas.
The client was very happy with the painting and sent me a lovely email before and after she gave it to her daughter:
Thanks Ivana…Caitriona is going to be really thrilled as Molly is the light of her life. We all love her..and you have captured her so well..you have a gift for sure. Many thanks again for completing it so quickly..
