Christmas orders are in full swing now and I am working away to get all the portraits ready in time. I haven’t had the time to update the blog, so I will try and do that in the next few weeks.
This is a family portrait I worked on a few weeks ago. The portrait was commissioned as a birthday present for the mum in the picture by her husband. I had a lot of photographs to go by which made it much easier for me to capture everyone’s likeness.
The drawing was 20 x 30 cm in size drawn with graphite pencils on paper. I worked with Staedtler Lumograph 2B and 4B pencils mostly. The drawing was mounted in a neutral colour mount before it was collected by the client. I took some photos of the mounted portrait.
I have finished working on this portrait today. It is a graphite pencil drawing on Fabriano paper. The size is 25 x 35 cm. The portrait was drawn loosely with graphite pencils HB, 2B, 4B and 5B. I was working from an older photograph that was not very detailed, but because the photo was taken outside under sunny conditions, it gave the face some really lovely shadows. It also showed the features of the face very well. I think it worked out really well for a drawing in graphite. I hope you all like it. 🙂
I completed this portrait a couple of weeks ago. It is a lovely drawing of a mother with her son. The portrait was given to the mum as a birthday present from her partner. I worked from two photos for the composition.
The drawing was 25 x 30 cm in size and drawn with graphite pencils. I used Staedtler graphite pencil HB to 4B.
I have finished this portrait today. It worked out quite well I thought. The scan is looking very close to the original, although I always feel the texture of the paper is really lost in a digital image. I hope you all like it. The drawing is 10″ x 12″ (25 x 30cm) in size and drawn with graphite pencils on Fabriano paper.
Next up I will be working on a lovely painting of two german shepherds.
