Cat Portrait Drawings in Graphite Pencil
This pet portrait was created in 2009 and is of a cat called Loki. Her portrait is drawn with graphite pencils on Fabriano paper. All pet portrait drawings are drawn with artist quality pencils on Fabriano paper, then mounted in a quality mount with backing board, ready for framing by the owner. An artist fixative is used on all pencil pet portraits. It prolongs the life of the medium, eliminates fading and smudging.

Reference Photograph
I worked from one photograph for this cat portrait. It was taken at a bit of a distance. It does however show the overall character very well. I worked on a small drawing size of 30 x 20 cm and the portrait was kept simple and sketchy to show the overall form. The background was kept white with a suggestion of a wall underneath her paws for context.
