Family Portrait
People Portraits in Graphite Pencil
This family portrait was commissioned in 2013 by one of the sons in the picture as an anniversary gift for the parents. The portrait was based on lots of reference photographs which were joined to form one composition. The drawing was large in size at 40 x 50 cm - 16 x 20 inches. As with all pencil drawings, I used Fabriano paper and Staedtler graphite pencils.
Family Portrait Scan
The finished drawing was scanned in a few pieces and put together on the computer. I took some photographs of the finished mounted drawing and you can see them by scrolling down on this page.
To keep the client up to date with the commission, I took a few progress photographs of the drawing, which were posted on my Art in Progress Blog. This way, the client knows exactly how I am doing with their portrait.
Photographs of the Finished Portrait
These photographs show the finished mounted portrait. I use only conservation quality mounting board with a backing board for protection and to keep the paper flat. The mount is of neutral colour and adds approximately 2 inches on all sides of the portrait.
"Hi Ivana, I am very impressed with the portrait. Thank you for all your hard work."
