This is a painting of Lily, the cute tan corgi cross dog. She is lying on a stairs landing in her owners house. The painting was commissioned from a client in the UK, but it was gifted to a lady in Dublin. I worked on her portrait this time last year, I cannot believe how time is flying. I have not been able to update the blog as often as I would want, but I will do my best to catch up.

Lily, corgi dog on landing, acrylic on stretched canvas, 25 x 30 cm

The painting of Lily is 25 x 30 cm in size. It is painted with acrylics on stretched canvas as usual. The canvas is 18 mm deep. I started with a simple line sketch using yellow ochre on white ground. This was followed by some initial colour blocking and then layering thin washes of paint until I achieved a result I was happy with.

I had one photograph to work from and the client was delighted with the finished painting of Lily. I took some photos of the progress and the finished painting in my studio.
