I painted this portrait a few weeks ago. It was commissioned as a Christmas present for the mom in the photo. I had one photograph to work from for the painting that I received from the client, Jordan’s dad. He wanted me to capture the closeness the mom and baby share. The moment is shorlty after baby Jordan was born rendering it very special. Jordan is only a few months old and keeping his parents very busy!
I worked on stretched canvas at 25 x 20 cm in acrylics. It was such a pleasure capturing this lovely moment. I simplified the background a little for the main characters to be the focus of the portrait.
The client was delighted with the finished portrait:
Hi Ivana! Wow! I’m impressed I love it thank you:) Jordan is a beautiful well behaved little prince. I am looking forward to seeing it in real life. It’s a secret Christmas gift so we’ll both see it together at Christmas…

I took some photographs of the progress and the finished painting. The painting is on canvas. I find stretched canvases so versatile, they can hang with just a string at back for a simple understated display. Or they can be framed by the client. Sometimes I get asked to organise a frame, which I can through my local framers. I usually go for a tray frame which leaves a shadow gap around the canvas. A limed wood frame works so well with any painting.
I am now fully booked for Christmas this year, but if you are still looking for a unique Christmas gift, why not try my gift vouchers.
