Over the last few years I worked on a few equine portraits. I have worked with many clients and created both paintings and drawings of their horses and ponies. Since I have a few of these under my belt, I decided they needed a page of their own.

The page is now under my Gallery page on my website. It includes portraits of racing horses, pet horses and ponies, horses with their owners and family and even a couple of very cute donkeys 🙂

I have worked in both acrylic on stretched canvas to create paintings, and in graphite pencil on paper to create drawings. Some include horses in action, at their very best. Some are head and shoulder portraits with plain shaded background.

I had the pleasure of working with many interesting clients and I always find the stories behind their prized horses fascinating. Horses are such wonderful animals, their eyes are like a window to their souls, they can be so kind. And I am always amazed at how different each of their personalities can be. My daughter is an avid horse-rider so I am have the pleasure of meeting with horses on a weekly basis. What an honor. And to paint them feels so special. I get lost in the process…

I painted and drew them with their owners and jockeys too. Seeing them in action is very inspiring.

I work mostly from photographs emailed to me by my clients. I often have a multiple images to use and I make sure to match the coat colour in the painting.
