I have made some progress on the painting of Bella and Audrik, the portrait of two German Shepherds I have started last week. I have now added the first coat of colours everywhere on the canvas. This step is to work out what is going where really when it comes to colour. I always try to keep it as pure as I can in this step, not mixing colours with white so as to keep the colours fresh. It is a thin wash throughout. I will start adding some white into the mixes today and carry on working on the shadows and highlights. I usually work from dark to light, so the painting is looking quite dark at the moment.
