I work from my studio in Kilcock. It is a small room with shelves all around to put my finished and unfinished work onto. I like to give each work a few days to 'rest' before I completely finalise them and email my clients their portrait scans. On this page, you will find more information on how I work together with some progress photos and videos of my process. I discuss the materials I use and how I go about completing each piece of work. Because I work from photographs, I like to share them here too for comparison. You can subscribe to the blog and receive updates 3 to 4 times a month.
This painting was commissioned back in May and was an anniversary present for the client’s girlfriend pictured in the painting. She is feeding a giraffe. I must admit I was not aware this was possible at all! It was a very unusual and exciting project for me. The colour scheme…
This full landscape wedding portrait was completed back at Easter time. The location of the wedding was beautiful and worked so beautifully in the drawing. It was an anniversary present for the bride in the photo, commissioned by her husband. The drawing was 40 x 40 cm in size, so…
This painting was completed back in March and I really enjoyed working on it. It was so different and unique. The photograph captures a spontaneous moment. This is a landscape painting I worked on a couple of months ago. It is from an older photograph that brought a lot of memories to the client who commissioned the painting. It was a gift to her mother. The painting is painted with acrylics on stretched canvas at 20…
I hope you are all keeping well and safe during these strange times. I am still working away on my commissions, so please don’t worry they will all be painted and drawn. There might be a slight delay in finishing work as I have my 6 year old daughter at…
This painting is a 50 x 60 cm acrylic portrait of Rafa and Luis, the two beautiful King Charles Cavalier dogs that sadly passed away last year. The client wanted me to create a special keepsake painting of the two dogs. Rafa the tri-colour and Luis the Blenheim coloured dogs…
This is a tinted and graphite pencil drawing of a proposal in the Wicklow Mountains. I worked on the drawing earlier this year. The portrait is 20 x 20 cm in size and I used mostly graphite and black graphite pencils on paper. The tinted areas of the yellow coat…
Rua’s portrait was such an interesting painting I got to complete back in January. It was a wide landscape format in 30 x 60 cm size and I used acrylics on stretched canvas. Rua passed away sadly in autumn 2019 and the client, Rua’s owner wanted to commission a portrait…
I completed this drawing back in January and it was one of my first commissions for 2020. It was such an interesting drawing to work on. I had one reference photo to work from. It was a hard copy photo which I scanned so I could zoom in to see…
