Bea and Siog
I was reviewing my work for the last year or so and realised I haven’t posted a blog post in a few months. I have so much work that I have not shared and I will try and catch up. This portrait is an acrylic painting of Bea and Siog,…
I work from my studio in Kilcock. It is a small room with shelves all around to put my finished and unfinished work onto. I like to give each work a few days to 'rest' before I completely finalise them and email my clients their portrait scans. On this page, you will find more information on how I work together with some progress photos and videos of my process. I discuss the materials I use and how I go about completing each piece of work. Because I work from photographs, I like to share them here too for comparison. You can subscribe to the blog and receive updates 3 to 4 times a month.

This is the first commission I worked on in 2021 and it was very enjoyable. There is something about old photographs that I just love interpreting on paper. Graphite works so well to translate old photographs to an artwork. This one is of a man looking over his shoulder. The…

This pencil drawing is of a father and son at the son’s graduation. It was drawn based on one reference photograph and was commissioned as a 30th birthday gift. It was commissioned by the young man’s girlfriend. She wanted to give him something special for his big birthday. The drawing…

This is a portrait of Bob, the beautiful tabby cat whose portrait was commissioned as a Christmas present. Bob was sadly killed on the road last year and the client commissioned his painting as a gift for his wife. They both miss Bob terribly and wanted a keepsake of him…

This painting was commissioned as a wedding anniversary present for the bride in the photo. The couple would have celebrated their 40th anniversary in summer 2020 but her husband sadly passed away the year before. Her children decided to gift their mom a special present of a painting of one…

After a long break I am writing here again. I have been so busy over the past two months working on your commissions. There have been many, drawings and paintings alike, of all sorts of subjects, landscapes and even houses. This year has been a very strange sort of year…
