I completed this portrait a few weeks ago and never got a chance to upload it here on the blog. The client – the bride pictured in the portrait – was very happy with the result. The drawing was a standard A4 size (20 x 30 cm). I worked with graphite pencils, HB to 5B, to create this drawing. The reference photo was very interesting, the fact that the light was behind the couple meant that their faces and any details on their clothes were not very visible. I lightened the shadows in places to create more detail in the bride’s dress. It was quite an intricate lace dress and I wanted this to be suggested in the portrait. I also brightened the bride’s hair and flowers.
The portrait was given to the client’s husband as a first anniversary gift.
I am now working on a painting of a lovely Chihuahua called Molly. It will be finished in the next couple of days, so check back to see how it turns out.
I am now booked up until the end of October, so if you are thinking of gifting someone with a very special portrait for Christmas, please order as soon as you can.
