Darcy is a beautiful golden labrador whose portrait I worked on a few weeks ago. She sadly passed away before Christmas. She was thirteen and with her owners from a puppy. The client commissioned her painting as a present for his wife. The painting is 50 x 50 cm in size and painted with acrylics on stretched canvas.
I took my time painting Darcy’s portrait, applying thin washes to the background and more detailed layers of paint in the centre. I wanted her nose and eyes to be the focus.
