I work from my studio in Kilcock. It is a small room with shelves all around to put my finished and unfinished work onto. I like to give each work a few days to 'rest' before I completely finalise them and email my clients their portrait scans. On this page, you will find more information on how I work together with some progress photos and videos of my process. I discuss the materials I use and how I go about completing each piece of work. Because I work from photographs, I like to share them here too for comparison. You can subscribe to the blog and receive updates 3 to 4 times a month.
I have just finished working on another portrait. It is a family portrait of a cocker spaniel called Charlie and her owners. Charlie has sadly passed away and her owners wanted a portrait of her and themselves as a keepsake. To put Charlie into focus, we have decided to draw…
I have finished working on this portrait last week and scanned it just yesterday. I think it worked out very well. It has been a couple of weeks in the making and I took my time purposely. I don’t like to rush paintings, especially when they are larger in size.…
I have a brand new painting on my easel! A very exciting one too 🙂 This portrait features two absolutely beautiful German Shepherds. Sadly, they have both passed away. This painting is going to be a present for their owner. I can’t reveal too much detail about this commission in…
I have finished working on Prince’s portrait yesterday. It was sitting on my ‘done’ shelf for a day. I wanted to make sure Prince was captured as he deserved to be. I scanned it today and adjusted the scan on the computer to match the painting. Some of the fine…
I am now working on a brand new painting. It is of a lovely golden labrador called Prince. He has sadly passed away and the client has commissioned a painting of Prince for her father, his owner. I am very fond of labradors, as you know, I have one myself,…
I have finished working on Marley’s portrait yesterday, but decided to keep it on the shelf for a day to make sure it was working. I scanned it now and I think it worked out quite well. The darkness of the blanket really plays off the white in Marley’s fur.…
I have started working on a new portrait a couple of days ago. It is of a lovely chihuahua called Marley. I just love the reference photo the client gave me. Marley looks so cute in it lying down on the blanket. He has such a lovely expression. The painting…
I have finished this portrait today. It worked out quite well I thought. The scan is looking very close to the original, although I always feel the texture of the paper is really lost in a digital image. I hope you all like it. The drawing is 10″ x 12″…
I am now working on a brand new portrait. It is a pencil portrait 10 x 12 inches (25 x 30cm) in size. It is of the client’s father who sadly passed away. It is going to be a special keepsake for the client. I have completed the sketch over the…
I have been very busy in the studio over the last few weeks and I never got time to update the blog. I will be working on a new family portrait soon and I will update this space with progress pictures. I have finished two family portraits that have gone to…
