I have now finished work on this large family portrait. I think it worked out pretty well and I tried my best matching the scan to the original. I scanned it in a few pieces and joined on my laptop, so some of the shading might look darker or paler than it is in reality….

Family Portrait in Pencil
This is a family portrait I have been working on for the last few days. I have postponed work on Robin for a moment as this is a Birthday present for next week. I will resume working on Robin’s portrait straight away. The family portrait is 30 x 20 cm (12 x 8 inches) in…

Mounted Christmas portraits
I took a few photographs of some of the finished pet portraits and family portraits I worked on before Christmas this year. They were mounted in a snow white mount with backing board and posted. The portraits look so finished when mounted, the mount really does wonders for any drawing. I normally wrap the mounted…

This is the latest finished family portrait, which I have just scanned. I am also showing detailed view of each of the boys portrait. The Grandmother portrait is now finished. I have scanned it and I will add it to the gallery page very soon. It was hard work with all the detail especially of the skin and hair. I enjoyed every minute of it, wrinkles are so intricate and interesting. It changed the way I’m looking at age….
Grandmother – in progress
I have been away for a while and didn’t get a chance to carry on with this one. I’m back though, rested and ready to start working. I worked on the hair today, which is very tedious. I prefer to draw in all the detail rather than rub back afterwards so it takes a little longer….
Grandmother Portrait in Progress
This is a new family portrait I’ve been working on last week. I have spent 12 hours on this portrait of a grandmother so far. It is a part of a new range of family portraits in pencil. I feel graphite pencil can really capture the highlights in the skin and wrinkles too. I love…
Finished Portrait – ‘Moment’
Just finished this one today. I was working on this portrait for the last few days. The work is based on the photograph from www.scx.hu by BWK. I loved the photo of this girl, she looks so present in the moment. And so I had to call the drawing ‘Moment’. I think it’s very appropriate….
