The Grandmother portrait is now finished. I have scanned it and I will add it to the gallery page very soon. It was hard work with all the detail especially of the skin and hair. I enjoyed every minute of it, wrinkles are so intricate and interesting. It changed the way I’m looking at age. It’s a great achievement to reach that old age and look so distinguished (in a very positive sense). Wrinkles add beauty and importance. Can you imagine the amount of experience you will have by the time you are of a certain age? That is where the beauty lies and we need to start looking at ageing as a positive change in life not a hindrance.
A few technical notes: A HB pencil was used throughout with the help of 2B and 4B pencils for darker areas and shadows. Erasers or blending tools were not used in this process. It took approximately 25 hours to complete this work. Reference photograph for this work is by ryzlak. The original drawing will be for sale on this site, just have a look in the original artwork section in Gallery. Prints and greeting cards are available from Fine Art America. For any questions, contact me here by posting a comment or through our contact page. I am looking forward to your comments.
And it’s onto the next one for me!
