Grandmother Portrait in Progress

This is a new family portrait I’ve been working on last week. I have spent 12 hours on this portrait of a grandmother so far. It is a part of a new range of family portraits in pencil. I feel graphite pencil can really capture the highlights in the skin and wrinkles too. I love this image. The pose is simple and yet I find the more I work on it, the more detail I find. I am really enjoying the portrait drawing process. I have to take photographs of the portrait progress, I don’t want it to smudge while scanning. So the images are a bit dark. Check back soon for the progress and final drawing soon.
