Art Studio Updates

I work from my studio in Kilcock. It is a small room with shelves all around to put my finished and unfinished work onto. I like to give each work a few days to 'rest' before I completely finalise them and email my clients their portrait scans. On this page, you will find more information on how I work together with some progress photos and videos of my process. I discuss the materials I use and how I go about completing each piece of work. Because I work from photographs, I like to share them here too for comparison. You can subscribe to the blog and receive updates 3 to 4 times a month.

Sophie and Ted – cat painting

This painting is just finished today. It is of Sophie and Ted, two lovely cats. I worked from two reference photos to create one composition. I worked with acrylics on stretched canvas 20 x 30 cm in size. I decided to use a red ground underneath. This brought a lovely…

Protrans Trucks Drawing

Bran

This is the latest portrait to come off my easel. It is of Bran, the beautiful mixed collie shepherd dog. She was rescued by her family when 6 months old and stayed with them for 15 years. She was very special to them and so they commissioned Bran’s portrait with…

The latest portrait

This is the latest portrait to come off my easel. It is 35 x 45 cm in size and painted with acrylics on canvas. I worked on this one for a week. The photo didn’t offer a lot of detail, so I decided to loosen my style a little. For…

Milly’s portrait framed

I received a lovely email from this year’s first client. It was a painting of Milly, the horse that the client trained. She had the painting framed and it is now hanging in her home. I think the frame works really well with the painting and the surrounding wall. I…
