Art Studio Updates

I work from my studio in Kilcock. It is a small room with shelves all around to put my finished and unfinished work onto. I like to give each work a few days to 'rest' before I completely finalise them and email my clients their portrait scans. On this page, you will find more information on how I work together with some progress photos and videos of my process. I discuss the materials I use and how I go about completing each piece of work. Because I work from photographs, I like to share them here too for comparison. You can subscribe to the blog and receive updates 3 to 4 times a month.

I have progressed with the boxer painting today, adding basic shading and colours into the background and George himself. It is shaping up quite nicely, but there is a lot more work to be done. In the next step, I will detail the distant landscape and start detailing George.

Cat Portrait Painting

I have finished the portrait of a white cat Kodi I have been working on for the past few days. I think it turned out quite well, hopefully the client will agree. The painting is a lovely square 30 x 30 cm (12 x 12 inches) and it suits the…

Cat Portrait Painting – stage 1 & 2

Since finishing on Monty’s and Jessie’s portrait, I have started working on a lovely painting of a cat. His name was Kodi and sadly he has passed away earlier this year. The pet portrait of Kodi was commissioned as a birthday gift for his owner. The portrait will be square…
