I work from my studio in Kilcock. It is a small room with shelves all around to put my finished and unfinished work onto. I like to give each work a few days to 'rest' before I completely finalise them and email my clients their portrait scans. On this page, you will find more information on how I work together with some progress photos and videos of my process. I discuss the materials I use and how I go about completing each piece of work. Because I work from photographs, I like to share them here too for comparison. You can subscribe to the blog and receive updates 3 to 4 times a month.
This is a drawing of Zippy, the gorgeous tabby cat that was with her owner for more than twenty years. She sadly passed away last year and her owner’s mum asked me to create a keepsake portrait of her. The portrait was a Christmas present and I had to wait…
This is one of the many Christmas commissions I received in 2023. This was a gift for the clients’ parents who are the proud dog owners of two beautiful whippets. The grey one, Sweep, is on the left and sadly passed away recently. Poppy is the second whippet on the…
In August this year (2023) I was contacted by a client in Longford about a commission of her brother-in-law James. James sadly passed away in March 2023 from dementia at a very young age of 56. James’ brothers, my client’s husband, and his other brother based in the US, of…

Tuscany is one of those places that cannot be confused with any other. It is so picturesque, sometimes too much so and so easy to get sucked in when painting it. I thoroughly enjoyed this painting process though, from the distant hills to the foreground with the young family. I…
This is a portrait painting of Breffni Twohig (now Kelly), a cross country running athlete competing at the 2009 European Cross Country Championships in Dublin. Her father, Ronan, contacted me back in August to complete this portrait as a gift for her birthday at the end of October. It was…
This is Roxy, the beautiful Springer Spaniel dog having a reflective time in a river surrounded by beautiful trees. This is a memory of a lovely pet I painted a couple of weeks ago. Roxy sadly passed away earlier this year and her portrait is being given as a Christmas…
I have been working on a large painting of a cross country running race over the last week and it got me thinking I have been commissioned to create sports portraits on more than one occasion. I thought I will put them all together in one post… I worked on…
This is a montage drawing of four dogs owned by my client’s sister. They include, from left to right, Daisy the springer spaniel, Kiszy the black poodle, Trigger the long coat Dalmatian and Jack the retriever coonhound dog. I combined four different photographs of them and used a beach background…
I wanted to let everyone know I am now in the process of accepting commissions for Christmas. Please don’t leave it till too late to avoid disappointment. I am available for pet portraits, family and people portraits and any unusual ones too, including landscapes and house illustrations. I work from…
