Welcome to my Horse and Equine Art Portraits Gallery!
I put this page together to showcase some of my previous horse and pony paintings and drawings. The page contains artworks in both mediums I use, graphite pencil and acrylic.
In the case of colour paintings I use acrylic on fine grain stretched canvas. Acrylic is an excellent medium for translating the nuanced colouring of any animal fur, be it a pony, horse, donkey or other pets, be it short or long haired.
The texture of the paint together with the grain of the canvas create a unique surface.
I work from one or multiple photographs to create a composition the client is happy with.
This gallery contains a selection of my previous equine artwork. It includes racing horses, pet horses, ponies and even a couple of very cute donkeys.
The paintings on canvas are very versatile when it comes to hanging, as they do not need to be framed. I can provide a string at back for hanging without a frame.
Many clients prefer to choose their own frame to suit their home decor as the owner of Buttons the grey horse I painted in 2024.
I can add a full landscape background to your painting, or just a simple shaded background. Examples of each are shown below.
If you would like to commission your own unique portrait in full colour, contact me with your pictures today to discuss your ideas and requirements.

This page also contains examples of some of my pencil equine artwork. I use graphite pencils with charcoal to create horse, pony and donkey drawings. The pencils I use have charcoal content to create deep dark tones for contrast.
As with paintings, I work from photographs provided by my clients. I can amend backgrounds, remove or add elements of a photo to create a composition that works and suits my clients' requirements.
I finish all drawings with a light spray of an artist fixative to keep dust away followed by inserting them into a neutral coloured mount. Drawings are then ready to be framed by client.
I can organise a frame too, depending on clients' preferences.

It’s absolutely perfect & you are so incredibly talented! I was so overwhelmed by how much your painting looked like her! I could nearly reach out & pet her again! This has really helped me grieve for her & I’ll cherish it forever. Thanks a million! :)"
