This is a painting I completed back in March. I can’t believe the time has flown so fast. I have been so busy in the studio, I have not had a minute to update the blog. I have worked on a lot of interesting projects and I will post them here over the next few weeks. I hope you have all been keeping well and are enjoying easing up of the restrictions.
This painting is a 35 x 25 cm sized portrait of a bride and groom based on a vintage photograph. It was taken in Dublin in 1970 and you can see some of the character of the buildings in the background. The inclusion of the background and the car adds some context to the painting. The portrait was commissioned as a 50th anniversary present to the couple in the photograph. It was commissioned by their children.
I worked with acrylics on stretched canvas as usual. I started with a painted sketch with dilluted yellow ochre. The canvas is a fine grain standard edge canvas at 1.8 cm deep.
The client was thrilled with the finished painting:
Hi Ivana! WOW! It is perfect, looks amazing! I am sure we will chat again in the future. All the best.

I took some photographs of the finished painting in my studio. I am also including the reference photograph I used for the painting.
