This is a brand new commission I have been working on for the past few days. It is a pet portrait of a beautiful Dachshund called Zak. Sadly he is not with us anymore and the client is having a pet portrait painted in his memory. It is going to be a birthday present for his owner.
I have completed the first few stages of this portrait. I have posted photographs of all the stages below. The painting is on stretched canvas of 30 x 25cm (12″ x 10″) in size. All paintings start with a pencil sketch, the the under-painting where basic colours and shapes are decided and finally detailing. The detailing can take a while as it is quite tedious, but very rewarding. I still have a good bit of work to do and I will post the final scan in a few days.
