I worked on this painting in the autumn of 2022. It was commissioned as an engagement present for the couple in the painting, the client’s brother-in-law and his fiancee. The client provided me with one photograph to work from and another for a close up of the couple’s faces because they are captured quite far away in the main photo. Their faces worked out very small which was quite a challenge, but I managed to capture their likeness with a very small brush :).

The clients were very happy with the painting:

Hi Ivana!

Wow! It looks absolutely fantastic, exactly what we were looking for. Thank you so much…

…Thanks so much for the painting. Just gave it to Megan and Charles today and they absolutely loved it. All the best and happy Christmas…

I worked at 30 x 30 cm on fine grain canvas with acrylic paints. I worked on a stretched canvas which meant it could be hung on the wall without needing a frame. Many clients prefer not to frame when gifting as the recipient can pick their own frame to go with the decor of their room. A fine grain canvas meant that I could work up in a good deal of detail which is what this commission needed.

I took some photos of the finished painting as I often do.

The reference photo was lovely and had some interesting light showing through. I wanted to capture this, especially in the couple’s faces and clothes. The light coming through the gates onto the road were very interesting to capture too and I thoroughly enjoyed the painting process.

Christmas 2022 was a very busy one for me again and new year is no different. I am now booked until the end of March, which is just great. I have some really exciting and interesting projects to work on and I cannot wait! I will do my best to keep the site updated as I go…
