Teddy is a beautiful greyhound dog whose painting was commissioned by a client in Clondalkin in Dublin. Teddy is her sister’s beloved pet dog and she loves his ‘like a baby’ as my client put it. My client wanted to give her sister a very special birthday gift and commissioned me to create Teddy’s portrait.
The size of the painting is 30 x 30 cm and I used acrylic paints to paint it on a fine grain stretched canvas. The client emailed me a couple of photographs of Teddy, but this image of him looking up at the camera just really resonated with me.
The pink teddy beside the greyhound shows how much he is loved by his owner. I zoomed in on Teddy’s head to create a more close up image of his head and especially those gorgeous eyes. The pinks the teddy and cushion bring a great splash of colour into the subtle fur colour of the greyhound.
