I am now working on a horse and jockey portrait in graphite pencil. I have put down the initial sketch and the next step will be shading and tone. The portrait is for a client in Ireland. It is 25cm x 20cm in size (10″ x 8″), on Fabriano paper with Staedtler graphite.
This is a very exciting project for me, as I have always loved horses. They are such beautiful animals and I am enjoying drawing this portrait especially as the horse is in motion. It is fascinating to observe each muscle and capturing the speed and force with which these animals move.
