Springer Spaniel Portrait in Pencil

I finished working on Baxter’s portrait last night and after some tweeking this morning, I scanned it. It is looking really well I think and I hope you will like it too. It was lovely to work on a square format, I think Baxter’s position in this portrait really suits it. I used pencils of various thickness to achieve good tone in the drawing, 2H, HB up to 8B for the darkest areas. There is a small inscription on the bottom of the page reading ‘Baxter April 2013’.

Next up is a portrait of a bride which will be painted with acrylics on stretched canvas. I have prepared and primed the canvas and I will be starting work on it today. Progress pictures to follow on Monday.
