I started working on Alfred’s portrait today. Alfred was a beautiful dalmatian that sadly passed away recently. His owners wanted a pet portrait of him in his favourite walking spot in county Wicklow, so there is going to be a lovely landscape background in this painting. The client also asked me to remove Alfred’s collar and finish off his paws naturally at the grass.
I have started first with a loose sketch of the composition and you can see the photograph of the canvas below. Next, I will start adding colour blocks into the background and work on Alfred. The painting is painted in acrylic on canvas and measures 50 x 40 cm (20 x 16 inches). It will take approximately one week and I will post photographs of the progress as the painting develops, together with the scan of the finished painting.
