This is the next step of Alfred’s pet portrait. Today, I have started blocking in basic colours for the background and added some more detailed shading to Alfred’s head and body. Up to this stage, no white has been added into the portrait. I like to start with pure pigment first as I find that white dulls everything down. As I carry on with painting, I will distance the mountains, to create more of a perspective and to push Alfred into the foreground.
Tomorrow, I will start working on the detail in the whole painting and correcting any colours or shapes that aren’t up to scratch. Below are photographs of the pet portrait in its second stage.
Hi Ivana,
LOVE your work!
The Dalmation is looking fantastic. 🙂
Huge congratulations on having your pencil drawing accepted to the RHA (hope I got that right!)…it’s a wonderful achievement.
Kind regards,
Paulette
Thank you for your kind words Paulette. It is very exciting having work in the RHA exhibition this year. 🙂
