I have started working on a brand new dog portrait today. I have completed the initial sketch and I will be building on this sketch with paint as I go on. The sketch is painted in raw umber. In the next step I will be adding colour to the entire painting and then detail the painting at the end. The photograph of the progress was taken today and is a little dark.
The painting will have a lovely scenic background that the client provided as a reference. The boxer dog is called George and is one of many animals the client owns. It was a very hard decision for the client about which of her pets to feature in a portrait. The painting is 14 x 18 inches in size (35 x 45 cm) and is painted with acrylics on stretched canvas.
