Portrait of Bobby the German Shepherd

I have finished working on Bobby’s portrait today. I have scanned it now and matched the colours as close as I can to the original. It worked out really well. I had planned to use a neutral brown tinted background, but have decided yesterday to add a little cobalt blue to compliment Bobby’s brown highlights. It was because as I was detailing his eyes, I noticed a little blue hint of the sky reflected. I think the background now really ‘pushes’ Bobby’s head to the foreground. I have also added some tiny blue highlights to Bobby’s fur as it would reflect in reality (not that it istoo  noticable :). I have also kept his body a little sketchier around the edges. I felt it looked really well and this way he almost jumps off the canvas. I hope the client likes it too. The painting is being given as a Christmas present to Bobby’s owner, so let’s hope he will like it. It is 25 x 30 cm in size and painted with acrylics on stretched canvas.

So, this is it from me this year!!! I will be back (hopefully a little more often) in 2015. I have some commissions already awaiting in January, so keep following this space.

And in the meantime, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year 2015. Thank you all for reading, it’s been wonderful…
