I am now working on a brand new painting. It is of a lovely golden labrador called Prince. He has sadly passed away and the client has commissioned a painting of Prince for her father, his owner. I am very fond of labradors, as you know, I have one myself, so I am enjoying working on this painting. The size is 25 x 30 cm (10″ x 12″) and I am painting with acrylics as usual, on a stretched canvas. I use thin edge canvases and they are ready to hang as they are, or can be framed. I have now completed the first few stages of the painting. I have taken some pictures as the work progressed. I hope you like them so far. I made a little change in the background. I had originally thought a brown / tan background would look good with Prince’s lovely colouring, but changed my mind as I worked. I have put in a warm grey background as I thought there would just be too much tan in the painting. I hope the client likes it too.
