I work from my studio in Kilcock. It is a small room with shelves all around to put my finished and unfinished work onto. I like to give each work a few days to 'rest' before I completely finalise them and email my clients their portrait scans. On this page, you will find more information on how I work together with some progress photos and videos of my process. I discuss the materials I use and how I go about completing each piece of work. Because I work from photographs, I like to share them here too for comparison. You can subscribe to the blog and receive updates 3 to 4 times a month.

I was commissioned to create a pencil portrait of Niall Moran, the Irish hurler who played for Limerick, by a client a few months ago. The client really enjoyed the coloured pencil drawing I completed of Donal Og a while ago. She wanted to have a drawing of the same…

A client I completed a few portraits for over the years contacted me recently about something a little different. Her husband’s birthday is coming up in early June and he is an avid seaman. He loves to fish and take trips in the Irish Sea on his boat called ‘Black…
This painting was commissioned as a milestone birthday gift for the man in the image who is turning 70 in a few months’ time. It was commissioned by his wife. I worked from a few photographs using one for his posture and expression and another to remove a tint in…
I completed these two paintings last year 2021 for a returning client. He previously commissioned a painting of a boy and returned with another two commissions last year. He wanted me to paint his wife and daughter’s portraits. These were given to the ladies as gifts to the client’s wife…
Earlier this year (2022) I worked on a painting of Killiney Bay in south county Dublin. It featured Toby, a very cute family pet dog, and was commissioned as a keepsake for his owners. Toby sadly passed away last year. Killiney Bay was his favourite place to go for a…
These two acrylic portraits were commissioned by Tara’s husband as a gift to commemorate the year 2020. In May of this year Elvis, the cat, much beloved by Tara sadly passed away. In August of that year their son was born and the sad event was followed by a happy…
